Sunergise and Great Barrier Island Community on TV3
Great Barrier Island and Sunergise are showing the rest of New Zealand how to tackle climate change.
The Island community is reliant on generators and solar power for electricity and is home to the largest off-grid solar panel system in New Zealand - implemented 1 year ago by Sunergise. The system has saved locals over $30,000 in energy costs and saved 20,000 litres of diesel from being shipped across from the mainland.
News hub reporter Alice Wilkins shared the story on the TV3 evening news describing the initiative as ‘setting a big example to the rest of the country’.
